Josh Brolin is making a documentary about his teenage punk band Cito Vice Squad

NME ·

Josh Brolin is making a documentary about Cito Vice Squad, the teenage punk band he formed with his friend Jason Sears in the Los Angeles scene. The project will also explore the wider scene with filmmaker Amy Berg, preserving the story of a group that later became the hardcore band Rich Kids On LSD.

Brolin said the band was inspired by the Sex Pistols and that he played drums, though he described himself as a poor drummer. Sears and Richard “Bomer” Manzullo went on to form Rich Kids On LSD, whose debut EP came out in 1984; the group split in 1989 and later reformed. Manzullo and Sears both died in 2005. Brolin also recalled seeing bands including Black Flag and the Circle Jerks at Los Angeles venue Godzilla’s.
