10 Things I Hate About You is a 1999 romantic comedy loosely based on Shakespeare’s play The Taming of the Shrew. Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger played teenagers at the same school, while Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Larisa Oleynik, Andrew Keegan, Gabrielle Union and Susan May Pratt were among the other cast members.
Ledger, an Australian actor, died in 2008 aged 28. The film remained a well-known early part of his career, and its school romance and musical scene are remembered by audiences and former castmates.
Dancing With the Stars is a television competition in which public figures perform choreographed dances with professional partners. Recreating a scene from the film connects Stiles’s later television appearance with the cast’s shared work and Ledger’s lasting place in popular culture.
