Kacey Musgraves Jokingly Requests a “Bedazzled Fire Extinguisher” as Fire Breaks Out Onstage in Boston

American Songwriter · 3 hours ago

Country singer Kacey Musgraves kept performing after a fire broke out onstage during her concert at TD Garden in Boston on Friday 28 August, drawing praise from fans for her calm reaction. The incident occurred as sparks fell from the ceiling during her performance of "Golden Hour", which then developed into a small blaze in the rafters, though no one was reported hurt and the show continued.

Musgraves, 38, noticed the flames while addressing the crowd, remarking "that looks bad" and "genuinely, something's on fire" before joking she had "way too much hairspray to be standing under that", and later quipping that she needed "a bedazzled fire extinguisher". The stop was part of her tour supporting seventh studio album Middle of Nowhere, released in May 2026, and followed other viral moments on the tour, including a Chicago show featuring giant disco balls and, in Boston, a tribute performance of "Here You Come Again" for Dolly Parton, who died on 25 August aged 80.
