‘Kane Chronicles’ Live-Action Series In Development At Disney+

Deadline · 3 hours ago

Disney+ is developing a live-action series based on Rick Riordan's "The Kane Chronicles," expanding the author's mythological universe on the streaming platform. Riordan will create the show alongside Angela Robinson, known for "How to Get Away with Murder" and "True Blood," giving new momentum to a property that had previously stalled as a planned Netflix film before rights reverted to Riordan in 2024.

The trilogy, comprising "The Red Pyramid," "The Throne of Fire" and "The Serpent's Shadow," draws on Egyptian mythology and follows siblings Carter and Sadie Kane as they master inherited magic to rescue their father from the god of chaos. It shares a universe with Riordan's "Camp Half-Blood Chronicles" and "Magnus Chase" series, and will be produced by 20th Television, which is also behind the Disney+ adaptation of "Percy Jackson and the Olympians" — a show that drew nearly 30 million views within a month of its 2023 premiere and returns for a third season in November.
