## Key points

- Leavitt said Democrats adopted Trump’s voter-focused approach.
- She called for a new America First Republican leader.
- She doubted Democrats would cooperate with Trump.

## Summary

Karoline Leavitt said Democrats’ midterm success came partly from using Donald Trump’s approach to connect with voters and promise to improve their lives. She argued Republicans need a new America First leader who can speak to people’s concerns, while acknowledging Trump will not head the ticket again.

Speaking to Lara Trump on Fox News, Leavitt praised Democrats for inspiring turnout, but said she doubted the parties would work together, citing Democratic comments about investigating the Trump family. She had earlier blamed Republicans’ defeat on voters forgetting Trump’s policies and listening to what she called the “lying media”; the article says Democrats won both the Senate and House.
