## Key points

- Zacharia accused Morgan of seeking “gotcha moments”.
- She would not discuss private conversations with Trump.
- Morgan brought on former communications director Anthony Scaramucci.

## Summary

Former White House Press Secretary Katie Zacharia criticised Piers Morgan after a tense interview in which he questioned her about leaving the role after five days. She said he had tried twice to create “gotcha moments” and objected to his changing topics and bringing on a surprise guest.

Zacharia declined to discuss private conversations with President Donald Trump, saying she remained “ruthlessly loyal” to him and wanted to talk about the midterm elections. Morgan brought on Anthony Scaramucci, who served as White House communications director for ten days in 2017, and compared their short tenures; Scaramucci praised Zacharia’s handling of the interview.
