French producer and DJ Kavinsky, born Vincent Belorgey, has died at his Paris home aged 50 following a suspected stroke, French outlets BFM and Le Figaro reported on 29 July. He was a key figure in the second wave of French touch electronic music, best known for his track "Nightcall", which gained wide international recognition after featuring on the soundtrack of Nicolas Winding Refn's 2010 film Drive. His death marks the loss of a significant figure in modern French electronic music.

Paris prosecutors have opened an investigation into the death but said they found "no suspicious elements" at the scene; Belorgey had reportedly complained of headaches in the days beforehand. He began his career in the early 2000s opening for Daft Punk, later achieving breakout success through "Nightcall". In a notable recent highlight, he performed the track alongside Phoenix and Belgian singer Angèle at the Paris 2024 Olympics.
