Keigo Higashino’s Posthumous ‘Eien no Kioku’ Tops Billboard Japan Book Hot 100 With Record Points for a Novel
Keigo Higashino's posthumous novel "Eien no Kioku" (roughly "eternal memory") has topped the Billboard Japan Book Hot 100, released on 13 August, marking his first release since he died on 23 July at the age of 68. The book's chart-topping performance is notable because it set an all-time single-week points record for a novel, underscoring the strength of public interest in Higashino's final work following his death.
The title accumulated 16,394 points this week, driven largely by brick-and-mortar sales and social media activity, surpassing the previous novel record of 11,566 points set by Uketsu's "Hen na Chizu" in November 2025. Elsewhere on the chart, Eiichiro Oda's "ONE PIECE" Vol. 115 rose to No. 2 after its digital release, Yuto Suzuki's "SAKAMOTO DAYS" Vol. 28 debuted at No. 3, and the final volume of Yuuki Tabata's long-running "Black Clover" series landed at No. 4. The chart combines physical sales, e-books, library loans, subscriptions and social media data, covering the tracking period of 3–9 August.
