## Key points

- The Falcons handed San Francisco its first loss.
- Daniels added 11 tackles and an interception.

## Summary

Rookie linebacker Kendal Daniels recovered a late fumble to help the Atlanta Falcons beat the previously unbeaten San Francisco 49ers. His decisive play came a week after he was stretchered off during a game, making his return and contribution a notable part of Atlanta’s win.

With less than a minute remaining and the Falcons nine points ahead, safety Jessie Bates III tripped George Kittle, who then lost the ball; Daniels dived on it to secure the result. Daniels also recorded a career-high 11 tackles and intercepted a Brock Purdy pass, as Atlanta forced four turnovers and improved to 3-5. He was conscious and moving his limbs after the earlier neck scare, and was later cleared to play.
