Trooper Hayden Phillips, a 30-year-old Kentucky State Police officer with three years of service, was fatally shot during a routine traffic stop on Interstate 65 in Warren County on Monday. The shooting prompted an immediate statewide manhunt that concluded with the arrest of suspect Emonnie Branch. Phillips' death represents a significant loss to both law enforcement and his family, whom he leaves behind including his wife and three young sons.

Phillips was assigned to Post 3 in Bowling Green and had graduated from Cadet Class 103. A Blue Alert was issued for a bluish-grey Honda Civic with an Alabama registration plate that was present at the shooting scene. Louisville Metro Police apprehended Branch, who is being charged with murder of a first responder and will face state murder charges in Warren County.
