Greek police are investigating the death of a 38-year-old British woman whose body was found in a suitcase in an abandoned building in Athens. Detectives are reportedly focusing on a key person connected to her final movements, while activity on her mobile phone after her suspected death has raised the possibility that someone tried to obscure the timeline.

The woman was discovered in the Kypseli district on 18 July after a homeless man noticed a strong smell. Initial post-mortem findings suggested she may have died about eight days earlier, although the timing remains under review; there were reportedly no clear signs of a struggle or injury. Police are examining her phone records, messages, CCTV footage and contacts to establish how she died and who placed her body in the suitcase.
