King Charles ‘fed up’ with Prince Harry drama as reunion with grandchildren hangs in balance: expert

Fox News · 1 month ago

King Charles III is reportedly "fed up" with the ongoing drama surrounding his estranged son, the Duke of Sussex, according to British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard. Her comments follow a report in The Mirror that Prince Harry is "frantically" attempting to arrange private security for his wife, Meghan Markle, and their two children so the family can travel to the United Kingdom. The dispute matters because it once again draws the monarchy into a public and legal wrangle over the Sussexes at a time when a potential reunion between the King and his Montecito-based grandchildren remains uncertain.

According to Chard, the King wants to see his grandchildren but not the accompanying "drama", citing rolling media briefings, last-minute changes of plan and the security fight being fought in public and in court. She pointed to an accommodation offer that was reportedly made, declined and then requested again, as well as a children's visit said to be repeatedly confirmed, cancelled and revived. Chard argued that any reunion would now have to be strictly private, properly planned and free of press, warning that bringing the Sussexes back publicly would look like the institution "surrendering to pressure". The tensions stem in part from the UK government's decision to decline Harry's request for police protection during visits, a matter that has been contested in the courts. Fox News Digital said it had approached Archewell, which handles the Sussexes' offices, for comment.
