Davina Morley, formerly Davina Sheffield, has died aged 75 after a short illness. In the 1960s and 1970s she was one of Prince Charles's most prominent girlfriends and, as one of the so-called "English Roses" or "Charlie's Angels," was widely tipped as a possible future queen before the future King Charles III went on to marry Princess Diana. Her death is being reported because of her significant, if brief, place in royal history as someone who was seriously considered a match for the heir to the throne.

Morley passed away on 2 September with her three sons, Tom, Billy and Henry, by her side, and a celebration of life service is planned for November near her home in the Cotswolds. She began dating Charles around 1976, was welcomed by the Queen Mother and pictured with him at royal and society events, but the relationship ended abruptly after a former boyfriend revealed to the press that they had previously lived together. The granddaughter of ICI chairman Lord McGowan and a cousin of Samantha Cameron, Davina later married Jake Morley in 1981.
