King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard have released "Kill for the Steel," a new song serving as the latest preview of their forthcoming 28th studio album, Alien Metal. The track follows recent singles "Level 5" and "Alien Metal," continuing the Melbourne band's shift towards a darker, industrial techno sound shaped by their live "rave shows" and a custom-built modular synthesiser rig nicknamed "Nathan," extending the electronic experimentation begun on 2023's The Silver Cord.
The song features pounding rhythms, heavy low-end and a processed vocal, and arrives with an accompanying visualiser just days before the band's sold-out Field of Vision II festival in Buena Vista, Colorado, from 14–16 August, featuring Blood Incantation, W.I.T.C.H. and La Luz among others. King Gizzard will then play three nights at New York's Forest Hills Stadium from 20 August, including a rave-style show with Dâm-Funk, followed by another rave performance in Brooklyn with .VRIL, before an October Australian run culminating in a two-day Croxton Block Party takeover in Melbourne.
