Kit Harington has expressed renewed openness to a Game of Thrones Jon Snow spinoff, stating that he now feels more comfortable with the character following the project's cancellation in 2024. The actor, who spoke about this on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, explained that he initially struggled with being defined solely by Jon Snow after the original series' massive success, but has since taken on various other roles that have helped him separate his identity from the character. He emphasised that this shift in perspective has changed how he views the possibility of returning to Westeros.

Harington first explored the spinoff concept in June 2022, working with writers and showrunners to develop the project with HBO and George R.R. Martin. However, the team mutually agreed to cancel the series because they could not find the right story to tell, with Harington insisting from the start that proceeding without a compelling narrative was not worthwhile. Whilst he is not actively pursuing the project, he now sounds genuinely open to revisiting it, suggesting that circumstances have evolved enough that a future Jon Snow story could work if the right creative vision materialises.
