The Democratic candidate is currently emphasising her commitment to combating what she describes as a significant fraud problem affecting the state. Her Republican opponent, House Speaker Lisa Demuth, has questioned the timing and consistency of this pledge.

Demuth's criticism rests on an examination of Klobuchar's public communication history. According to the analysis, the Democratic candidate made no reference to the state's fraud issue across more than 1,000 press releases issued over the course of her political career. This gap between her extensive prior public statements and her current campaign focus forms the basis of the Republican challenge to Klobuchar's anti-fraud credentials.
