## Key points

- Kratos will return in a new God of War game.
- It will follow on from God of War Laufey.
- Key details remain unannounced.

## Summary

Sony Santa Monica has confirmed that Kratos will lead another God of War game after the forthcoming God of War Laufey. Studio creative head Cory Barlog said the new title will build on the story established by Laufey, which centres on Kratos’s deceased wife Faye, signalling that the series will continue to explore its wider cast while retaining Kratos as a central figure.

Laufey is due to launch in February 2027, following its reveal and a 20-minute gameplay preview at June’s State of Play. No release window, setting or platform has been announced for the next Kratos-led game; the franchise is also developing a remake of the original God of War trilogy, while the spin-off Sons of Sparta launched earlier this year.
