Tony Valh’s World War Two drama Krux will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival before screening at San Sebastián next month. Inspired by true events, it follows a small north-eastern German village near the war’s end as Nazi orders, uncertainty and rumours erode everyday social order.

With most men away fighting, the village is left largely to women, children and a small number of men who remained behind. Its cast includes Jella Haase, Clemens Schick and Martin Wuttke; Global Constellation has sold rights to Brazil, France and Benelux, while Vuelta Germany will distribute in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and Gutek has acquired Poland.
