## Key points

- Kurt Suzuki’s one-year stint as Angels manager has ended.
- Los Angeles finished 62-100, its first 100-loss season.
- Kroenke’s group is preparing to take control of the franchise.

## Summary

The Los Angeles Angels have declined manager Kurt Suzuki’s 2027 contract option after the team’s first 100-loss season, ending his tenure after one year. The change comes as the franchise prepares for a new ownership era, with Stan Kroenke’s group set to acquire a controlling interest.

The Angels finished 62-100, second-worst in MLB, and have now had 11 consecutive losing seasons and 12 seasons without reaching the play-offs. Suzuki, a former Angels catcher who had never managed before his appointment, has been offered a role as a special assistant. The sale is expected to close next year, while the team is also searching for a permanent general manager.
