## Key points

- Shanahan gave no indication of Aiyuk’s future.
- Aiyuk was expected to meet the 49ers on Friday.
- Summer social media posts have added to the tension.

## Summary

Kyle Shanahan offered no clarity on Brandon Aiyuk’s future with the San Francisco 49ers, saying he had “no clue” what would come from their expected meeting. His response leaves uncertain whether the wide receiver will return to the team.

Aiyuk was expected at the practice facility by 3 p.m. Friday to discuss his future. He is on the NFL’s Reserve/Left Squad list and is expected to be reinstated for the first time since 2025. Tension follows social media posts Aiyuk made over the summer, including one that appeared to mock Shanahan after a car crash; tight end George Kittle had also questioned whether Aiyuk would enter the facility.
