Los Angeles homelessness has risen again, according to new official figures, prompting renewed criticism of Mayor Karen Bass’s handling of the crisis. The Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority’s 2026 annual count found homelessness increased by 3.4% in Los Angeles and by 1.2% across the wider Los Angeles Continuum of Care. The rises follow two consecutive years of declines, making the figures a setback for the city’s efforts to reduce homelessness.
