Lady Annabel Goldsmith, the socialite who lent her name to the exclusive London nightclub Annabel's and was a close friend of Princess Diana, left more than £5.6 million in her will. She died aged 91 in October 2024, and probate records released this week show her estate mostly passed to the two surviving children from her first marriage, while her three children with second husband Sir James Goldsmith were excluded, as they had already been provided for by his fortune.

Probate documents show UK assets of £6,668,035, reducing to a net estate of £5,618,858 after liabilities. The bulk was placed in trust for entrepreneur Robin Birley and artist India-Jane, her children with first husband Mark Birley, who founded Annabel's. Her later children with Sir James Goldsmith, Jemima, Zac and Ben, were left out of the main inheritance under a clause noting they had been "generously provided for" by their father, reportedly worth £1.2 billion when he died in 1997. Smaller legacies included £20,000 to Tristram Powell, £15,000 to great-niece Maude Martel, and £10,000 each to James Powell, Sophie Pilkington and Cosima Somerset, alongside a painting bequeathed to executor Charles Filmer.
