‘Lanterns’ Premiere Lights Up Strong Ratings on HBO, HBO Max
DC Studios' "Lanterns" premiered to strong viewing figures on HBO and HBO Max, drawing 9.3 million viewers worldwide over its first three days. The launch outperformed several recent HBO series premieres and marks the biggest debut for a DC Studios show on HBO Max, underlining the streamer's growing appetite for superhero content beyond its Max Originals slate.
Around 71 percent of the global audience, or 6.6 million viewers, came from the United States, a total that beat premieres for IT: Welcome to Derry, The Penguin and True Detective: Night Country, though it fell just short of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The series, based on the Green Lantern comics, stars Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre as Hal Jordan and John Stewart and was co-created by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof and Tom King, with Nathan Fillion set to join later in the season as Guy Gardner.
