Larenz Tate has joined Vault, a newly launched streaming and distribution platform intended to give independent filmmakers more control over how their work reaches audiences and earns revenue. The venture, founded by Newark International Film Festival founder Kenneth Gifford and backed by Tate and his brothers, matters because it aims to address filmmakers’ limited ownership and distribution options in the changing entertainment market.

Vault hosts independent films, television, documentaries, short-form content and music, offering both free viewing and a paid, more curated subscription tier. More than 50,000 subscribers have reportedly signed up so far, while creators can upload work free of charge, choose paywall settings and retain control over pricing, monetisation and revenue; the platform also provides title-specific branded pages and marketing tools.
