Late F1 Icon Gilles Villeneuve Drives For Speed, Trophies in ‘Rise of a Legend’ Trailer (Exclusive)

A new trailer has been released for *Villeneuve: Rise of a Legend*, a biopic about Canadian Formula 1 driver Gilles Villeneuve, ahead of its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. The film follows Villeneuve’s rise from rural Quebec to elite international racing and explores both his celebrated fearless driving and the strain his ambition placed on his family.

Rémi Goulet plays Villeneuve, with Rosalie Bonenfant as his wife and Patrice Robitaille as his father. Directed by Yan Lanouette Turgeon, the film is due to close TIFF on 19 September and depicts Villeneuve’s career before his fatal crash at Zolder in 1982, including his time driving for Ferrari.
