Lauren Bennett, singer on LMFAO’s Party Rock Anthem and G.R.L. member, dies aged 36
Lauren Bennett, the British singer who sang the bridge and hook on LMFAO's chart-topping 2011 hit "Party Rock Anthem" and later joined the girl group G.R.L., has died at the age of 36. Her death was announced by G.R.L. in an Instagram post, though no cause or exact date was given; a former bandmate indicated she had died shortly before her late-June birthday. Her passing marks the loss of a performer whose voice featured on one of the most commercially successful and ubiquitous pop songs of the past two decades.
Born on 24 June 1989 in Kent, England, Bennett first came to attention on the UK's version of The X-Factor before joining the Paradiso Girls, a group put together by Jimmy Iovine and the Pussycat Dolls' Robin Antin. Antin later guided her into G.R.L., which performed with Pitbull on the 2014 track "Wild Wild Love" and paused after the death of member Simone Battle. Bennett moved into country and folk music in 2017, forming the duo Bennett with her brother Ryan, and also collaborated with will.i.am and CeeLo Green. Her final social media post, in February, featured a cover of "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'".
