Death of Lauren Bennett, Party Rock Anthem vocalist and G.R.L. member, at 37
Lauren Bennett, the British singer best known for her featured vocals on LMFAO's global hit "Party Rock Anthem" and as a founding member of the girl group G.R.L., has died at the age of 37. Her death was announced on Instagram by her fellow G.R.L. members, Emmalyn Estrada, Natasha Slayton and Paula van Oppen, in a tribute describing their hearts as "broken". Her cause of death was not immediately available.
Bennett began her career on the third series of the UK's The X Factor in 2006 before joining Robin Antin's Paradiso Girls in 2007. She gained wider fame on 2011's "Party Rock Anthem", which spent six weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. In 2012 she joined Antin's group G.R.L., whose track "Wild Wild Love" with Pitbull charted in 2014; founding member Simone Battle died by suicide that year, prompting the group's disbandment before it reformed as a trio in 2016. Bennett also collaborated with CeeLo Green on his 2010 song "Love Gun".
