Actress Jennifer Beals has been cast in NCIS: New York, a new spin-off in the long-running NCIS franchise due to premiere on CBS this autumn. The announcement rounds out the show's principal cast and comes shortly after the cancellation of Law & Order: Organized Crime, on which Beals recently appeared, marking her move between American television's two biggest crime drama franchises.

Beals will play Assistant Special Agent in Charge Robyn Wells, who oversees agents Sam Hanna (LL Cool J, appearing in his third NCIS series) and Nick Schaeffer (Scott Caan) at the New York field office. The wider cast includes Jacqueline Byers, Shane Harper and Devin Druid. The casting news arrives alongside other franchise developments, including Mark Harmon featuring in NCIS: Origins as the present-day Leroy Gibbs and Michael Weatherley returning as Tony DiNozzo on the flagship NCIS series.
