Legend of the White Dragon trailer reveals a Power Rangers legend’s final role
A trailer has been released for Legend of the White Dragon, the final acting role of Jason David Frank, the actor best known for playing Tommy Oliver in Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers. Frank, widely regarded as the franchise's biggest star, died by suicide in November 2022 at the age of 49. The independent studio behind the film, Bat in the Sun, pledged to finish the project as a tribute to him, and it is now due to reach cinemas on 28 August.
In the film, Frank plays Erik Reed, a former superhero and fugitive who takes up his mantle again to protect his city and family, amid a prophecy pitting the White Dragon against the Dark Dragon. Though not an official Power Rangers property, it leans heavily into that association, with a suit echoing the Green and White Ranger costumes and a supporting cast of former Power Rangers actors including Jason Faunt, Cerina Vincent and Ciara Hanna. Mostly filmed in 2021, it also marks the final film of actor Michael Madsen.
