## Key points

- Lenny Kravitz was not on the plane that crashed.
- Nine people died in the South Florida crash.
- The NTSB is investigating with FAA support.

## Summary

Lenny Kravitz is alive, despite online rumours falsely claiming he died in a Florida plane crash that killed nine people. The rumours grew after an old post by pilot Emily Shelton about flying Kravitz from Texas to the Bahamas was shared without its context, linking him to the aircraft.

Kravitz’s representatives said the reports were false, and Shelton clarified that she was not the pilot in the crash. The New York Post identified the pilot as 20-year-old Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras; the Learjet had departed Austin for the Bahamas and crashed in South Florida on 1 November. The Federal Aviation Administration is supporting the National Transportation Safety Board’s investigation.
