At IFA 2026, Lenovo unveiled Project Swan, a concept laptop with a screen that expands from 14 to 17 inches at the push of a button, alongside Project AeroBlade, an ultra-thin laptop cooled by solid-state technology rather than a fan. Unlike many concept devices, both feel close to being production-ready, with Project Swan in particular offering a normal-feeling design that hides its rollable display technology when not extended, suggesting expandable-screen laptops could soon reach retail.

Project Swan measures 17.9mm thick and weighs 3.5 pounds, comparable to standard 14-inch notebooks, and its wider display was praised for improving side-by-side multitasking, though it has only two USB-C ports and a faint ripple where the screen extends. Project AeroBlade is just 10mm thick and weighs 1.8 pounds, cooled by Frore Systems' AirJet, a piezoelectric membrane that Lenovo says is quieter, more efficient and more reliable than traditional fans, though the technology remains too costly for mass production. Lenovo has no confirmed plans to sell either device.
