Responding to a fan's question on Instagram Reels about whether the show's editing implied sexual activity, Jowsey said he and contestant Dannelle Davidson had only been kissing in a closet and that the audio heard on screen "certainly was not us," attributing it to producers wanting a dramatic cliffhanger to keep viewers hooked.

The scene in question, from the end of episode two, shows Jowsey and Davidson kissing before moving into a closet where Jowsey believed there were no cameras, though they remained mic'd up; viewers can hear kissing sounds that give way to noises suggesting more. Netflix has not responded to The Hollywood Reporter's request for comment. Jowsey's claim echoes a similar controversy from Fox's 2003 series "Joe Millionaire," in which producers overlaid suggestive subtitles on audio of contestant Sarah Kozer, who also said the encounter was misrepresented, though the show's creator maintains the subtitling reflected real audio.
