Lewis Hamilton’s father makes £2.9m selling 27 of his classic cars at auction
Anthony Hamilton, father of Formula One driver Lewis Hamilton, sold 27 classic cars from his private collection for nearly £2.9 million at auction at Silverstone. The sale underlines continued international demand for rare, low-mileage and well-maintained British collector cars.
The highest-priced vehicle was a 1993 Jaguar XJ220, which sold for a UK auction-record £506,250 after attracting worldwide interest; it had covered 3,277 miles and was one of 69 UK-supplied right-hand-drive examples. Other notable sales included a 2007 Jaguar XKSS recreation for £400,000, a David Brown Speedback GT for £202,500, two Jaguar C-Type recreations for £192,000 and £190,000, and a 1961 Mercedes-Benz 190SL for £104,625.
