Liberal leader Angus Taylor refuses to work with Pauline Hanson’s One Nation – after she urged them to come together

Federal Opposition Leader Angus Taylor has ruled out any cooperation between the Coalition and Pauline Hanson's One Nation party, after Hanson publicly urged the two sides to join forces to defeat the Albanese Labor government. Speaking at the Sydney Institute, Taylor said his sole focus was removing Labor from office and insisted that One Nation was "not the solution", describing the party as offering only a way to "make things worse". The rebuff highlights ongoing tensions on the political right over whether the Coalition should align with minor parties to boost its electoral chances.
Taylor characterised One Nation's platform as "long on rhetoric but short on substance" and a "random grab bag of poorly defined, contradictory and constantly changing positions", branding it a "one-person show". He also claimed the party would rack up "an extra trillion dollars of spending over 10 years", and reaffirmed that he wanted the Coalition to govern "in our own right". In a video posted from London, Hanson hit back, saying she was "very disappointed" and telling Taylor "I'm not your enemy", while urging him to set aside their differences to remove what she called a "toxic" Labor and Greens government.
