The series charts her progression from a woman struggling to survive and protect her family to the ruthless killer depicted in the franchise, giving Cardellini room to develop the character's emotional motivations and descent.

To honour Betsy Palmer's iconic original performance, Cardellini incorporated a reference to a distinctive costume piece from the first film as a subtle homage. The production involved complex special effects work, particularly a sequence requiring substantial quantities of blood that necessitated multiple takes to achieve proper visual impact. Showrunner Brad Caleb Kane commended Cardellini's professionalism throughout the physically demanding shoot.
