Lindsey Buckingham’s Alleged Stalker to Undergo Mental Health Exam, Criminal Case Suspended

Rolling Stone · 3 hours ago

A California judge has ordered a mental competency evaluation for a 55-year-old woman charged with stalking guitarist Lindsey Buckingham. The court-appointed clinical psychologist will assess whether the defendant understands the charges and can meaningfully participate in her defence after her legal team raised concerns about her fitness to proceed. She faces six felonies and one misdemeanor, with a follow-up hearing scheduled for August.

The allegations span approximately four and a half years, beginning in October 2021 with reported phone calls and threats. The woman is accused of repeatedly following Buckingham, assaulting him with a vehicle, vandalising his car with graffiti, and throwing a substance at him despite a restraining order requiring her to stay 100 yards away. She is also charged with making a false emergency report to police in November 2024, falsely claiming gunshots and a suicidal family member at his home.
