LinkedIn is testing a ‘seems like AI slop’ reporting tool
LinkedIn is testing a reporting option that lets users flag posts as “seems like AI slop”, as it attempts to curb inauthentic or heavily AI-generated content on its platform. Flagged posts will have their algorithmic distribution reduced, and the company is also withdrawing its prominent AI rewriting tools, signalling recognition that its own features may have contributed to the problem.
The company says its improved detection systems should mean fewer AI-generated posts are recommended in users’ feeds. A Pangram study found that more than 40% of LinkedIn long-form posts were flagged as fully AI-generated, while LinkedIn says it has recently detected hundreds of thousands of automated comments and blocked billions of automated posting attempts.
- LinkedIn is trialling an AI-slop reporting option.
- Flagged posts will receive less algorithmic reach.
- Over 40% of long-form posts were reportedly AI-generated.
