Musician Glen Hansard died following a motorcycle accident, with his funeral held at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin on August 4th. Lisa O'Neill sang 'Old Note' during the service, a moment carrying deep significance as the pair had previously performed together at Shane MacGowan's funeral in December 2023. O'Neill explained that Hansard had provided her with a Dublin apartment years earlier—the very space where she composed material for her album 'All of This Is Chance'—encouraging her to let her artistic imagination expand within its walls.

Eddie Vedder and Markéta Irglová contributed 'The Song of Good Hope,' while Damien Dempsey and Bono also participated, with Bono performing a Patti Smith recording and sharing lyrics from U2. Traditional Irish musical elements were woven throughout, featuring pieces such as 'Críost Liom,' 'Port na bPúcaí,' and 'The Auld Triangle,' the last of which Hansard himself had regularly performed. Hansard's widow, Maire Saaritsa, addressed those gathered and shared a specially written poem honoring her husband.
