Variety · 17 hours ago

NBCUniversal Media Group chairman Matt Strauss said Peacock has reached profitability six years after launch, helped by subscriber growth, popular originals and live sport. He argued that streaming is entering a “great re-bundling”, with platforms seeking partnerships and broader membership benefits to become a more regular part of customers’ lives.

Peacock added 2 million domestic subscribers in each of the past two quarters, reaching 48 million, while Comcast highlighted the service’s first profitable quarter in Q2. Strauss cited “Love Island”, World Cup coverage and the original series “Five Star Weekend” as recent successes, and said a forthcoming deal to include Peacock with YouTube Premium could add many millions of subscribers next year. NBCUniversal is also testing rewards and links to its theme parks and advertising partners, while relying heavily on sport to encourage continued subscriptions.
