Manchester indie band Courteeners have released a new single, 'Plus One Forever', a love-struck track that frontman Liam Fray said he had held onto in various forms for some time. The song matters as a fresh offering ahead of the band's first-ever 'best of' compilation, arriving as the group mark two decades since their first gig.

The single, produced by Fray and The Coral's James Skelly, will feature on the compilation 'God Bless The Band', released on 28 August via Ignition. It follows the recent track 'The Luckiest Man Alive'. The band are set to play a homecoming concert at Manchester's Wythenshawe Park next month, with support from The Vaccines and The Coral, alongside a headline slot at Sheffield's Tramlines, dates in Stoke-on-Trent and Leicester, and a UK arena tour in November. Fray reflected on the band's 20-year survival and their growing appeal to Gen Z audiences, attributing their longevity to relatable, simple songwriting and having "bubbled under the surface" early on.
