Florida businessman Michael Martin, 63, who made headlines earlier this year after being jailed for refusing to demolish an illegally built $1 million pickleball court and guest house, has been arrested again, this time on a "Super Speeding" charge in Tampa. The Florida Highway Patrol took him into custody on Saturday night after he allegedly drove at 125mph in a 65mph zone, marking a further embarrassment for the millionaire following his earlier high-profile legal battle with neighbours.

Martin was charged with exceeding the speed limit by more than 50mph, a second-degree misdemeanour, and was released on a $150 cash bond. His representative said he had taken full responsibility and cooperated with police. The speeding arrest follows a bitter, years-long property dispute with neighbours Barbara and Gordon Babbitt, who successfully sued over the backyard structure, built on land subject to restrictions dating back to 1924; a judge ruled in their favour in 2023, and Martin spent three weeks in jail earlier this year for contempt of court after refusing to tear the structure down, before being released in May.
