Barrie M. Osborne, a producer of the original Lord of the Rings trilogy, is developing Wars of the Drakons: The Seer’s Prophecy, a planned large-scale fantasy film intended to launch a franchise. The project matters because it marks Osborne’s first producing role in more than a decade and brings his experience in major fantasy filmmaking to an original property.

The story is set in Aerion, where warrior Kale D’Sar defies a ruthless king after a prophecy says the king’s daughter will unite the kingdom and end his regime. Newcomer Carla Romero is writing and producing after more than six months of development, alongside producers Jeanette B. Milio and Jim Milio of Alliance Cinema; the film has no announced cast, director or release date.
