Lord of the Rings Star’s $70 Million Dark Fantasy Epic Is Officially Leaving Netflix

Collider · 2 hours ago

Netflix has confirmed that Dracula Untold, the 2014 dark fantasy film starring Luke Evans, will leave the platform on 31 August 2026, with no new streaming home yet announced. The removal follows the expiry of the film's licence, a routine but frequent occurrence on streaming platforms, and comes as Netflix has otherwise had a strong year for sci-fi and fantasy content, including the hit film War Machine and the Duffer brothers-produced series The Boroughs.

Dracula Untold grossed over $215 million at the box office against a $70 million budget and starred Luke Evans, best known as Bard in The Hobbit trilogy, in the title role. Netflix regularly loses licensed titles once contracts lapse, and this departure sits alongside other recent streaming news for the platform, such as the cancellation of The Boroughs after just one season despite strong viewership.
