Lover1k’s ‘On My Own’ Is A Spicy Dissection Of Dating
London duo Lover1k have released their new single 'On My Own', an alt-pop track blending hyper-pop production with dancehall rhythms. The project pairs DJ and songwriter Alice Roberts with producer and guitarist Lev Ceylan, and the pair have already generated word-of-mouth buzz through an intimate showcase in Clapton, east London.
Musically, the song serves as both a defiant anthem and a pointed critique of men's behaviour in dating, with Roberts delivering the vocals. Fellow London duo Big Softy contributed to production, and the track is accompanied by a video directed by Kalisha Quinlan-Davies. Roberts has described the song as addressing the exhaustion of being "love bombed" and constantly on the defensive as a woman navigating modern dating.
