Barcelona-based sales agent Low Light Films has boarded "O Jacaré," a thriller by Portuguese-Swiss director Basil Da Cunha, ahead of its world premiere in the main International Competition at the Locarno Film Festival. The film is significant as Da Cunha's final work set in Lisbon's Reboleira district, a neighbourhood he has filmed in for more than 20 years and which now faces demolition, making the project both a genre thriller and a tribute to a disappearing community.

The plot follows residents of Reboleira as they search for €180,000 (around $200,000) hidden somewhere in the neighbourhood, with the film using an ensemble cast of locals and Cape Verdean music to capture the area's atmosphere. It is produced by Switzerland's Thera Production, with Portugal's Continue Walking and Swiss broadcaster RTS as co-producers. Low Light Films founder Jainer Morales Mena said the company was proud to represent the film internationally, while Da Cunha described it as both a celebration and an act of remembrance for a community he has documented across generations.
