Sony Music Publishing (SMP) has promoted Luis Pinilla to Senior Vice President, Global Head of Strategy, the company announced on 8 July 2026. Reporting to Chairman and CEO Jon Platt and remaining based in New York, Pinilla will lead the development and execution of SMP's global strategic agenda, working with the publisher's teams to identify market opportunities, expand value for songwriters and keep the company aligned with emerging technologies and industry trends. The move signals SMP's continued investment in strategic leadership at a time it describes as one of significant transformation for the music industry.

Pinilla brings more than fourteen years of experience across SMP and EMI Music Publishing, most recently serving as SVP, Corporate Strategy & Financial Planning, and previously worked in investment banking at Piper Jaffray before joining EMI in 2012.
