The beloved 2005 holiday film "The Family Stone" is moving forward with a sequel, as actor Luke Wilson confirmed that writer-director Tom Bezucha has completed the script. Wilson expressed enthusiasm about the draft, noting that Bezucha has crafted something both funny and touching, whilst emphasising that the cast's collective willingness to return for the project makes it particularly significant.

The endeavour carries added poignancy following the death of actress Diane Keaton at 79, who played the Stone family matriarch in the original film. Bezucha revealed that working on the sequel after Keaton's passing has been emotionally challenging, describing how her absence has haunted his creative process whilst developing a story centred on the family home where her memory now looms large.
