## Key points

- Macklemore began his Free Palestine tour in Dublin.
- His speech received both support and criticism online.
- US tour dates have yet to be announced.

## Summary

Macklemore launched his Free Palestine tour in Dublin, where he reaffirmed his support for Palestinians and criticised the backlash to his use of the phrase “Free Palestine”. His remarks drew both praise and criticism online, with detractors calling him out of touch and questioning whether he should focus on problems in the United States.

The launch comes weeks after Macklemore was removed as an opening act from Ed Sheeran’s US tour following his remarks at MetLife Stadium in early September. Sheeran said the decision was made by the promoter and venues, and described the suffering on both sides of the Israel-Palestine conflict as a human tragedy. Macklemore’s tour is due to continue in Paris and London, with US dates still to be announced.
