Apple has released macOS 27, dubbed "Golden Gate," bringing a major overhaul built around a new AI-powered Siri, along with visual refinements and performance improvements. The update is significant as it marks the first big step-up for Siri's capabilities and continues Apple's rollout of its Liquid Glass design language, but it also confirms the end of the road for Intel Macs, which received their final major update last year.

The headline addition is the AI-driven Siri, which can answer questions, search personal content such as photos and emails, and carry out actions in apps like Messages and Reminders, backed by a new dedicated Siri app that archives past chats. However, this feature launches only as a beta and is initially limited to English. Liquid Glass has also been refined with "uniform refraction and improved contrast" and a new opacity slider, while windows now feature consistent corner radii, and the update is available for all Apple Silicon Macs.
