Madeleine Carlisle, a former associate producer at 60 Minutes and daughter of Stephen Colbert, has joined The Atlantic as a staff writer. Her move is notable as part of a wider series of departures from the CBS news programme following a leadership shake-up.

Carlisle previously worked as an Atlantic editorial fellow in 2018–19, then covered politics, law and gender for Time before joining 60 Minutes in 2022. At CBS, she worked with Scott Pelley, Anderson Cooper and Cecilia Vega, including on an Emmy-nominated investigation into crypto billionaire Changpeng Zhao; The Atlantic also hired writer and former Vibe and Billboard editor Danyel Smith.
